In the early-morning hours of June 28, 1969, the Stonewall Inn in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Lower Manhattan was raided by police. Patrons, neighbors, and members of the LGBTQ+ community alike protested in response to this storming and all of the ones before by New York City law enforcement. What followed was a six day riot outside the place Christopher Street—one very important to the timeline of Gay Rights Movement in the United States and the world.
